Well, the good news is...we're getting to the final stages of the immigration process!!
If you remember from a few posts ago, Drew & I had to get fingerprints taken so we could submit them to the FBI for a background check. We were told then (and again a few weeks ago when we called the FBI) that the process would take 8 weeks and that we had no choice but to sit and wait.
However, we got a nice little surprise on Thursday evening when we returned home from Charlotte and each had an envelope form the FBI with our results! Now...as you can imagine...we were thinking that if this process took 8 weeks, then we should be expecting a binder full of information about every little thing we've ever done in our lives...WRONG! It was one page of official letterhead that simply stated 'NO FEDERAL RECORD.' That's it! We're still not sure how that was supposed to take 8 weeks!
All of that to say...we got the background checks and today Drew is sending off everything to the New Zealand embassy in Washington, DC. Fingers crossed we get our visas back quickly and then the real fun can begin!
