2013 So Far...

Ok...so I'm announcing here that I'm going to try to do better about blogging in 2013. You've read it here, so I hope you all can keep me accountable--feel free to comment or email me if it's been too long since you've had your NZ blog fix :) My goal for this year (aside from these past 2 weeks) is to post a blog every single week...so by the end of this year I should have AT LEAST 52 blogs...fingers crossed!

Having said that, 2013 has been off to a great start for us! I learned so much and grew so much in 2012 and feel like I have started this year with a brand new perspective (see previous post for more details on that!) Getting back to Auckland after our visit home was actually a great thing and being able to spend time with our incredible friends here has made all the difference in the world!

So, rewinding back a little...

As soon as we got home from the States, we booked our next big trip...SINGAPORE & THAILAND!! We're doing like we did last year and postponing our anniversary trip for a few weeks so that Drew gets an extra day off from work for Labour Day. We're super excited about this...even though we have lots to look forward to between now and then!

THURSDAY 1/10
Our first week back we got to catch up with a lot of people and find out what everyone did over the holidays! Our Aussie friends, Amy & James, invited us over to their amazing apartment (which is in our same complex) for a traditional lamb roast dinner when James' cousins were in town visiting. We sat out on their porch that overlooks the city and enjoy lovely food and lots of good wine!

FRIDAY 1/11
I LOVE days like that Friday because I got to Skype with a dear friend from back home, then had lunch at an awesome restaurant with some girlfriends, went out to the mall to do some summer shopping, meet a great group for happy hour drinks at the Britomart Country Club, then capped off the night with dinner with Erin & Scott.

SATURDAY 1/12
We took some friends to the airport on Saturday (the sweethearts who graciously picked us up from the airport a few weekends ago) and then headed out to Orewa Beach to soak up some sun. That night a big group of us head to Leah's flat for drinks and games. We all threw our names into a pool to see when our friend, Kacee, would finally have her baby (her due date was the next day!)

SUNDAY 1/13
We got to Skype with Charlie for a bit and catch up with the fan before heading out to Mairangi Bay Beach with Will & Tally. Will's parents were still in town visiting, so it was really nice to meet them! The only downfall of the weekend was that I chipped the bonding on one of my front teeth and had to tough it out until I could get to the dentist the next day--not fun and not cheap!

TUESDAY 1/15
I finally got back into my gym routine and went to a Zumba class with my friend, Joan. Man, oh, man did that kick my butt! It was an awesome workout, though!

WEDNESDAY 1/16
Tally accompanied me to a yoga class at the gym and it was the hardest workout I've ever done in my life! We rewarded ourselves by going to the mall and spending the PwC gift cards that our husbands earned :) (Don't worry...we bought them lots of stuff, too!)

This past weekend we filmed House Hunters here in Auckland, but there was so much that went on that I feel like it warrants its own post...so that will be coming ASAP!

SATURDAY 1/19
We were lucky enough to be able to have some of our dear friends involved in the filming of House Hunters on Saturday night. We had invited them all to stay at our place for Sal's pizza and drinks, but quickly realized that with all those bodies in here we would be miserably hot even though it's cooled down a bit. Amy and James, being the sweethearts that they are, offered for everyone just to shuffle up to there place...which we did happily! We all got to sit out on their porch (again), enjoy Sal's, and wine and good conversation (mostly consisting of the Lance Armstrong interview with Oprah!) That night we also found out that Kacee finally had her beautiful daughter whom they named Cecilia :)

SUNDAY 1/20
We filmed most of the day and ended up on Mt. Eden. We went straight from there to pick up Will & Tally and head over to the birthing center to meet the newest member of our little group, Cecilia! She was absolutely precious with a full head of hair and her, mom & dad are all doing wonderfully! We are so excited for them and so excited to be able to share in their joy...at least for the next few months until they move to Jamaica. We stopped by the store to get stuff for dinner and then finally came home to relax.

Things are going well so far and now we're looking forward to our New Zealand exploration trip this weekend when we head to Christchurch, Picton and Wellington for the long weekend!

Cheers!
