Five on Friday--9/20/13

This is going to be a quick blog post as we're trying to get everything packed up (and under the weight limits) to head back to New Zealand today.

These are some of the highlights from the past week...

ONE: Beach time...last weekend at the beach, Drew & I got to have breakfast at Causeway Cafe, we spent many hours on the beach, met Becky & Charlie for happy hour at Porter's Neck, relaxed at home, went out on the new boat a few times (and took Raleigh since she has her own lifejacket), our friends Kurt, Haley & Densay came down for some beach time, we had dinner at the yacht club, did some bar hopping on Wrightsville Beach, and finished off the weekend with some Two Guys Grille. Love it.

TWO: Family time...after leaving the beach, we got to head to Greensboro to spend some quality time with my family for a few days. We picked up my sister from the airport on Sunday and enjoyed just messing around Greensboro, eating too much, playing some games and laughing a lot. We also got to have lunch with Buck, who is pretty much part of our family!

THREE: Puppies...we definitely love all the doggles in our family so it was nice to get to spend time snuggling up with them all. We've had Raleigh with us the whole time, but also got to see Layla, Stella, Colbie, George and Stewie. Wish we could take them all back to New Zealand with us!

FOUR: More food...over this past week, we've added the following to our list of delectable dishes: Gigi's cupcakes, Causeway Cafe, pizza rolls, Two Guys, PieWorks (hot dog pizza, of course), Natty Greene's, Monterey's, Salvino's, Maxie B's, Cheesecake by Alex, Bojangles and Zaxby's. We also got to try a new place in Raleigh called Oro with Brian & Caroline earlier this week where we indulged in the Campfire dessert (pictured below) where you can make 's'mores' at your table! Dear lord, we eat a lot. I see a cleanse/diet in our future...

FIVE:  This quote... I thought this was very fitting given the fact that we're leaving today to cross a very large ocean. Even though I always have a hard time saying goodbye and leaving everything that we call 'home', I know that there are fun times to be had, new places to see and many memories to make in New Zealand over the next 10 months.
.

Until next time...
