The morning after we got home, we moved into our new place! We had some great friends help us move and it really didn't take that long. It was so much nicer to have a lift (elevator) to get everything up to our floor. Our dear friends, the Bruffys, came over and brought us Sal's pizza for dinner that night. The general consensus is that everyone loves our comfy furniture and our amazing view. We are definitely excited to have such a great space to call home for the next year. And, yes, I will put it writing that I give Drew all the credit for finding the place. Well done, honey!On Tuesday the 13th we had dinner with some new friends, Megan & Robert! They actually saw us on House Hunters back in the States and she found our blog from that and reached out to me. We exchanged emails back and forth for a few weeks and they finally arrived. We picked them up from their newly-accquired apartment and had dinner downtown at Monsoon Poon. It's always great to add new friends to our circle here...especially when they love House Hunters!
That Thursday night, we had the inaugural gathering of our new dinner group! Us and two other couples decided not long ago that it would be nice to have a dinner group once a month so we can get together and actually catch up with one another. It will rotate houses each month, but the first month was at Will & Tally's. We had such yummy food and wine...and company, of course! Next month, Katie Bruffy's dad and stepmom will be here so we're going to all go out for dinner--should be fun!
Saturday the 17th was our housewarming party! We were so, so, so excited to get to invite all of our friends over for a change! You really don't think about how great it is to host people until you don't have the space to do it! We had about 20 people over here and we had enough room for everyone! We had some great food and some people even brought us housewarming gifts! Then we all settled down and got to show our NZ friends the House Hunters episode. They were all very pleased with the outcome.
The next morning we took our SUP boards out for the first time.
Afterwards, we walked down to Mission Bay to have a lovely outdoor lunch at a place called Ricshaw Eddys.
Then, we met up with Will, Tally, Katie B, and baby E for a hike around Cornwall Park and up One Tree Hill.
Last week, I got to go to the ballet, but you've heard enough about that! Then, I got to have a meeting with the RNZB representative and the president of the American Women's Club which was really awesome. They are doing a big fundraiser for their US tour early next year, so we were discussing ways the AWC could be involved with that. I also got to ask her some behind-the-scenes questions.
Saturday, we went out for a walk and ran into our friends Crystal & Nick. Apparently we looked hungry or they just couldn't resist our awesomeness because they emailed shortly after we both returned home to ask us to come over for a dinner party with them and one other PwC couple that night. Nick is a trained chef, so we knew we were in for a treat. He had a cheese/charcuterie/bread board out when we arrived, followed by a delicious salad, steak/chicken/veggie kebabs and feta couscous. The star of the night, however, was the chocolate caramel bread pudding--it was to die for! We played a few rounds of Catch Phrase and were having such a good time we didn't leave until almost midnight!
On Sunday afternoon, we decided to go for a walk before the rains came. Oops...that didn't exactly pan out. We got caught in a torrential downpour and when we decided to brave the weather and head home, we quickly realized our umbrella had a hole in it. Oh well...
So that's pretty much it. Drew is going through a really busy time at work, but this too shall pass! We're looking forward to our getaway this weekend and, of course, to heading back to the States next week!
