Last Saturday, we had a beautiful day and no plans. We ran a few errands in the morning and then our friends Will & Tally texted to see if we wanted to check out a winery. The answer? Of course! We wanted to check out a place downtown called Blend which was a pop-up container 'store' where you could sit outside and have a drink and/or make your own blend of wine. It was sponsored by Australian winery Jacob's Creek and you could choose and combination of any of their wines, try them all, then they make you a bottle and write your name and the date on it. It was a really cool concept, but considering we waited until the last weekend it was in town, the lines were too long to accommodate us :( Oh well--we headed out west to the West Brook Winery and it was lovely. Drew & Tally did a tasting and then we purchased a few bottles and went and sat down by the lake and enjoyed the sunshine.

One of the biggest treats this week was that Drew and I bought our first big 'grown-up' piece of home decor for the new house. We'll have lots of new furniture and old furniture and old furniture that's new to us, but we decided to splurge a little bit on some amazing light fixtures for our kitchen/sunroom area.
These are from New Zealand designer David Trubridge and are becoming extremely popular all over the world. Believe it or not--these are actually CHEAPER in NZ than they are in the States--that never happens! Anyway--we bought two of the Koura lights in the Caramel color so that we can continue to use them for many years without worrying about matching to a certain color scheme. Although, we both agreed that if we won the lottery we would outfit our entire house with these bad boys!
As you can see in the picture to the left, these fixtures come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and even colors. This 'mobile' is actually a product that you can buy that comes with all of these fixtures attached. When I went into the design warehouse in Parnell that sells these lights, they had this display hanging from the ceiling and it is truly spectacular. The fun part is...all of lights come in a box about the size of a DVD player and you have to put them together yourself. Guess I know what I'll be doing when we get home!

This morning, to end the week on a high note I got to Skype with my dear friend Maggie and her adorably yummy baby, Knox. Last time I Skyped with her, Knox was asleep (geez, babies are so lazy!) but this time he was wide awake and smiling and laughing...at least for the first few minutes. Then he decided he was no longer entertained by me and went to play with his daddy. It's always such a true pleasure to talk to my wonderful friend and I truly can't wait to get home so I can hug her neck in person and love on that baby of hers.

This week things definitely got kicked off for moving home...
- we submitted our landscaping plans to the HOA & are waiting on approval
- we called our utility companies here to set up disconnect for the end of March
- we've called utility companies back home to switch things to our name as of next Friday
- we will begin packing some clothes and other household goods this week
- the moving company comes to pick up our stuff on March 10th!
- we've requested copies of our medical records since we've been here
- we've researched blind installation, cable/internet options, paint colors, cars, & accent pieces
