I ventured over to Takapuna with Erin, Joan & Courtney for a nice walk on the beach and some yummy gelato.
Thurs. 8/30
Drew agreed to eat sushi for dinner! Granted, his has chicken in it instead of fish, but we're taking baby steps here, folks! This sushi was from a 'fast food' chain of sorts, but it was absolutely delicious!
Fri. 8/31
We met up with Erin & Scott for some pizza at Sal's and then over to a really cool bar called Brew on Quay. They had a rooftop lounge that was outdoors, so we could an awesome view of the blue moon out that night.
Sat. 9/1
First thing Saturday, I woke up and checked our mail and had our first official piece of mail from back home! My wonderful, sweet friend, Austin, sent me the cutest card all the way from NYC! It's the cutest card that has the UNC Old Well on the front--what a great little piece of home!
That afternoon, we went to the Auckland Museum with Erin & Scott for the first time--and it's FREE...YAY! It had some really cool stuff to see and some great views of the city!
Then on Saturday night, we went to a restaurant nearby called Urban Turban where Drew tried Indian food--it's been a big week for him! We went for one of Drew's co-worker's birthday celebration and had a great time. One couple brought their adorable daughter, Esther, and Tally & I couldn't resist joining in her fun for this photo.
Sun. 9/2
We decided to treat ourselves to a big homemade breakfast yesterday morning. We made mushroom and onion omelets, REAL bacon, hashbrowns and fruit salad. It was delish!
Then we went out and ran some errands and walked through some stores over in the Albany Mall. We went in one store that turned out to be an Abercrombie & Fitch store (probably with all of last season's clothes), but they had this sweatshirt and it made me smile!
Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, we wandered into a local pet store and got to hold some super cute puppies! It wasn't the same as our doggies from back home, but it was just the fix we needed. Granted, the adoption fee for one of these little pups is $1500...so we decided to hold off!
Last, we went to the evening service at church last night and got to hear the worship band in all their splendor because they just completed their first album. Afterwards, pretty much the whole congregation meets at a local pub called the Paddington for dinner and drinks!
That's it for right now, but I'll keep you posted on fun things this week & will have lots of updates from our trip to Sydney next weekend!
