Week 1: Part 1--Apartment Hunting

NOTE: This is part one of a 3-part posting blitz…there has just been so much going on that I want to explain each part in detail!

So Tuesday was our big day to go apartment hunting with our relocation specialist, Juanita. She picked us up first thing in the morning and we saw 8 different apartments! It was exhausting! We were rushing through so many places, I forgot to take pictures of each of them but we quickly realized that the property management companies must have great marketing teams because the pictures of these places we had seen online were very…um, generous…compared to what they actually look like in person!

Even though we had a strict budget set before we came, we did end up going over just slightly because our expectations were not at all realistic—go figure!

We narrowed it down to 2 places…one in the center of the city and one over on the harbor. We struggled all day because both had pros and cons, but we ended up choosing the one on the harbor because Juanita informed us that it was definitely a nicer, safer part of town. (Just as a comparison…the other one we liked was on the 28th floor of a high rise with incredible views, but it was right across the street from two strip clubs and a run-down hostel…not quite the neighbors we were hoping to meet!)

After putting in applications for both, we finally got the price we wanted for the place in Lighter Quay and should be able to move in next Monday!

I will definitely be posting more apartment pictures and info once we get moved in!

Cheers!
